As the hardest wood native to North America, it is built for real life. Whether you choose a clean Select grade or a bold Character grade, a solid hickory floor makes a powerful statement with its complex grain and famous high-contrast “calico” color variations.
Botanical Name: Carya ovata (Shagbark Hickory)
Janka Hardness Scale: 1,820 lbf (Significantly harder than both White and Red Oak)
Origin: Sustainably sourced from the Eastern United States.
Tree Characteristics: Hickory trees are slow-growing and exceptionally resilient, often reaching ages of 200 to 250 years. They are slender but tall, reaching up to 100 feet, producing a dense, heavy timber that was historically used for tool handles and wagon wheels due to its incredible shock resistance.
Unique Density: Because of its extreme density and tight cellular structure, Hickory is the most wear-resistant species we offer, making it ideal for the busiest households, large pets, and high-traffic spaces

Unmatched Durability: With a Janka rating of 1,820, Hickory is about 41% harder than Red Oak. It is exceptionally difficult to dent, making it the ultimate “life-proof” solid wood floor.
