Terms of Sale

These terms apply to orders placed with Ghent Wood Products & Meltz Lumber through this website. Placing an order means you accept them.

Pricing

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and are subject to change without notice. Lumber is a commodity, and quoted prices are held for 30 days unless stated otherwise. Where a product is sold by the lineal foot, the price shown is per lineal foot and the shortest board we mill is stated on the product page — the minimum order is one full board.

Ordering and payment

We accept credit and debit cards, processed by Stripe. Net 30 terms are available on an approved open account; contact us to request a credit application. Orders are confirmed by email once payment is authorized.

Freight and delivery

Freight is quoted per order to your delivery address, by LTL carrier for banded lumber and by parcel for small items and accessories. Freight quotes assume a delivery point a tractor-trailer can reach; residential, limited access, and lift-gate deliveries may carry additional carrier charges. Delivery dates are estimates and are not guaranteed. Title and risk of loss pass to you when the carrier takes possession.

Grading, moisture, and natural variation

Wood is a natural material. Color, grain, and figure vary from board to board and between production runs, and photographs on this site are representative rather than exact. Material is supplied to the grade stated on the product page; grade governs the quantity of characteristics permitted, not their absence. Kiln-dried stock is dried to a stated moisture range and will move with the humidity where it is stored and installed. Acclimate material on site before installation.

Custom milling and special orders

Material milled, ripped, or surfaced to your specification is produced for your order specifically. Please confirm dimensions, patterns, and quantities before ordering.

Limitation of liability

Our liability for any claim is limited to the purchase price of the material in question. We are not liable for labor, installation, finishing, removal, or any consequential or incidental damages. Claims for grade or quantity must be made before the material is installed or finished — installed material is deemed accepted.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
